A Safe Haven for Newborns

The Gloria M. Silverio Foundation 501(c)3, A Safe Haven for Newborns, is a not-for-profit organization founded in 2001 by Nick Silverio to honor the memory of Gloria, his wife of 31 years who was tragically killed in a traffic accident. The Foundation started in Miami and today, through a grass roots approach and public awareness efforts, it reaches across all 67 Florida counties. It also served as the prototype for setting the standard for affiliated programs in the states of Kansas and Missouri and the country of Panama. A Safe Haven for Newborns assists young, pregnant girls in their time of crisis. The Foundation manages a 24/7 multi-lingual confidential help line. Through the established partnerships in all Florida counties, The Foundation offers several programs to assist the expectant mother to make the decision that is right for her and her baby. Some of the resources available to them include counseling, parenting skills, health related issues, adoption and confidentially placing the newborn in a safe haven location.
