Power U Center For Social Change

Power U Center Social Change (Power U) was co-founded in 1999 by community organizers, Denise Perry and Sheila O’Farrell. Formerly based in Miami’s Historic Black Community, Overtown, and now in Liberty City. The organization’s work currently focuses on seeking change for students in Miami Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS) through their budget process. Power U creates spaces for parents, teachers, students, and community members to get behind specific campaign goals in alignment with items on the MCDPS budget.
